I was listening to a finance show on NPR yesterday when a segment about how the hi-top fade is coming back. First off, way to tackle the tough topics, NPR. Second, it was a pretty normal story until the reporter said the following:
“[Hi-top fade enthusiast Malkam] Dior spends $500 a month on product and weekly shape-ups and 45 minutes styling it every morning”
I thought I misheard, but in the corresponding online story confirms that amount: http://marketplace.org/topics/life/hi-top-fade-haircut-its-all-business.
I can imagine that this might make sense if Mr. Dior was an on-camera personality or something similar, but according to the article, he is a university administrator — an important job for sure, but not one that I imagine requires hair care this expensive.
I get my shorter hair cut fairly frequently, so budget $30 a month to get a haircut every few weeks plus associated hair products — and am not happy even spending that much. Yes, I understand that I’m not a stylish person and I also understand that people who aren’t me have their own priorities, but I just couldn’t imagine spending $500 a month on hair.
Anyhow, am I out of line? What do other people spend on their hair?
