Every year around this time, as spring gives way to summer, I do a one-mile (1.61-km) time trial.
I don’t do it for any reason in particular, don’t record it anywhere, and have never trained for it.
Now, to say I don’t “train” for it is, of course, not entirely true as I run two or three races somewhere in the 10- to 13.1-mile range and run about 80 miles a month when not training for anything in particular, but I never really sprint to anything (Except toward paying down debt!).
For 2013, I’m doing it exactly one week from today on the morning of June 27.
So, what’s your advice on how I should spend this next week to do this year’s time trial in a way that (1) will make me fast, (2) keep me injury free, and (3) be inexpensive?
