Hi readers- I know I’m early, but will probably be radio-silent for the actual holiday, so want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers. I hope my non-American readers have a pretty solid Thursday. If you’re celebrating the start of Hanukkah tonight, then enjoy that too.
And be safe, if you’re traveling.
I’m starting this post as I wake up Wednesday morning, so I’ll kick it off by saying I’m thankful for being able to write in bed, without having to put on pants or leave the warmth of my comforter.
I’m thankful that there’s a cool, little family out there that thinks I’m pretty neat too, and that they’ll get to tell me as much some hours from now.
I’m thankful for sea foam, for fiction and non-fiction, for second chances, and for the women of New Jersey.
I’m thankful for having readers like you who motivate me to keep going and who tell me that I’m wrong when I need to hear it.
Most of all, I’m thankful that the hardest part about waking up right now is the waking up itself — it’s not waking up hungry, or waking up without access to needed medicine, or waking up knowing I might be shot at or exploded today. Groggy and cold, and as much as I know that I’ve got lots of work to do — I’m truly grateful to be waking up healthy, sober, safe, and ready to learn and ready to do.
Anyhow, thanks again guys. I’m off to not waste today 🙂
